December 28, 2020 - Some sad news :
We are very sad to announce the passing of beloved member Sara Caswell Pearce, who died last night after a long struggle with breast cancer. A gifted writer, editor, chef and collage artist, Sara has been an inspiration to many of us for her creativity, good humor and enthusiasm for life even during times when she was most exhausted and ill. You can see some of her work and hear her voice in several years of blogposts.
Several months ago when she learned that the chemo regimen was no longer working, Sara announced her long considered decision to determine her own future and discontinue treatment. The world will be a smaller place without her.

PRESS RELEASE
WOMAN POWERED STUDIO COLLECTION SALE NOW VIRTUAL AFTER 26 YEARS:
An annual Cincinnati holiday shopping favorite, the Studio Collection Show and Sale, will NOT be holding an in-person sale for the first time in its 26 year history due to the Pandemic. Traditionally, the show is held on the Saturday before Thanksgiving. This year, however, the Studio Collection is trying something new and will present their virtual sale over the course of one week, starting on Saturday, November 14th and running through Saturday, November 21st.
“Our main concern is for the health and safety of our patrons and ourselves.” said Margaret Rhein, one of the show’s founders and a handmade paper artist. Ursula Roma, who creates metal art, painting and prints agreed, saying, “Due to the social distancing guidelines that are necessary to prevent the spread of Covid-19, it just isn’t feasible to host our show. We’ll definitely miss catching up with our customers and the warm, festive atmosphere that we look forward to every year.”
The Studio Collection has grown into a core group of 11 professional women artists and continues to provide new exhibition opportunities to both established and emerging artists by inviting guests to contribute to the show every year. This year's guest artists are Trish McLennan of Gardenhouse Pottery, Jessica Wolf of Paper Acorn, Melissa Culyer who specializes in bead embroidery and Brenda Tarbell who creates sculptural porcelain forms.
Lisa Inglert, who creates handmade glass bead jewelry and designed the Studio Collection website commented, “We have created an easy-to-navigate website, StudioCollectionCincy.com, with links to each exhibiting artist and their online selling venues including websites and Etsy shops. We also included links to our group's Social Media pages." Judy Dominic, fiber artist and show Coordinator continued the discussion saying, "The site provides an opportunity for our patrons to shop online from the comfort of their homes. Because it's our first virtual show, we felt that it was important to extend the sale from a single day to one week so that customers could take their time exploring this year's body of work." Ceramic artist, Terri Kern, added, “By following CincyStudioCollection on Facebook and StudioCollectionCincy on Instagram, the public can learn more about each individual artist and how they make their work. It’s fascinating to see the variety of materials and techniques that this year's artists utilize to turn an idea into a finished piece!”. Mary Mark, who creates narrative oil pastels commented, "We're even starting a newsletter to keep our patrons informed about our activities throughout the year and they can sign up for it on our website." "...And that's not all.", commented Susan Naylor, who makes finely crafted mixed media jewelry. "We've even figured out a way to keep up our tradition of giving away a select number of artist created door prizes to our customers."
The Studio Collection Show and Sale has a rich history of curating an eclectic mix of finely crafted art objects including jewelry, glass beads, sculptural and functional ceramics, hand dyed clothing, paintings, metal art, mixed media, prints, handmade paper art, cards, hand-crafted lighting, bead embroidery and narrative oil pastels. With price points that cater to every budget and styles that appeal to every taste, this show has been a highly anticipated tradition in the Tri-state area for people wanting unique, high quality handmade objects to collect or to give as gifts to others.
